As far as I'm aware the esercizi (excercises) are more or less the same for each Assimil course - usually consisting of translating a few sentences and maybe a "fill in the blanks" excercise.

You can basically just treat them as additional audio for the lesson. Perhaps just read them aloud after the speaker. If you like, you may also treat them as listening exercises. That's just what I think. There is no mention of how we are supposed to use those "exercises" in other With Ease courses also.

I've used the _French with ease_ from the same series and found the exercises useless. As roy2005 say, just use them as extra audio or ignore them altogether (many Assimil users from this forum edit them out and concentrate on the main text for listening, shadowing and dictation).

I don't find the exercises to be useless. They reintroduce the new words or concepts in different contexts. It is all additional information so far as I am concerned. I wouldn't dream of editing them out. Because you hear new words in a self-contained sentence as opposed to a whole dialogue, you can't guess the meaning of a new word from the context. You are forced to check if you don't understand it. The exercises often cover declension and verb conjugations that you don't get in the text. The recording gives you practice of what is otherwise covered in the notes. I have always regarded the exercises as an extension of the main lesson.

People do edit out the gaps in the With Ease recorded exercises. That brings them into line with the old Without Toil series. I find the gaps unnecessary. I certainly wouldn't erase the exercises or edit them out.

I agree 100% with this. I work on these as much as the main lesson.
