Just another question for my studies! φ(..)メモメモ
I'm reading something with すっっっっごく暑い "It's soooooo hot". Now, do Japanese stop the voice when they say す- ? Is there no voice there?
I see っ sometimes at the end of words and I think that means an abrupt stop of any sound, but I'm starting to come across it more in the middle of words and I just want to make sure I'm interpreting っっっっ correctly.

Whether it represents a long vowel (like your translation suggests) or an actual break the effect is the same. It seems casual and pretty much on par with using ~ or small vowels (e.g., 行きま~す!, そうだなぁ). Why don't you ask the person you wrote it?
And yes, the small tsu at the end of a word indicates an abrupt stop or a clipped sound. Also, think of phrases like あっという間に, meaning "the time it takes to say 'Ah.'" Even though it's not at the end, in this case the small tsu is being used to clip the あ sound rather than to double up the 't' sound.

The other translation for "sooo hot" is ちょー(超)暑い. There I think it's a clipped sound.
Yes, I will make a point to ask. It will take a few days to get a response.
My response here was quicker (^_^) Thanks Eric!
