MeshGearFox,
It seems to me that you are the one in a previous post who expressed the view that all foreign language audio books are expensive, on subjects of no interest and poorly read. Have you looked? The content available for Russian and German is huge, and a lot is free.
I suggest that you and tmesis would be better off being a little more open minded and less interested in trying to score easy points.
I have made no secret of my affiliation with LingQ and am following the spirit of this site as I see it in providing advice with reference to LingQ. If I am told by the administrators to stop doing so I will stop. I do not pay any attention to your carping.
Here is the relevant rule I believe.

Funny. You agree with audiolang's "tone" but get touchy when tmesis agrees with MeshGearFox's "tone".
Carry on...

And all this time I thought Zhuangzi was complimenting my voice tone.If it was that of my post ,I can assure you it was a friendly/comic one.
Yes Chung ,let's all carry on with languages with or without their complex grammar.

@tmesis: Ah, but if Zhuangzi continues to kick the dead horse, it gives him more posts in which to drop remarks about his service. Which, ultimately, I think, is why he keeps persevering. ;)
@Zhuangzi: I agree that a lot of input is needed for language learning, but the fact of the matter is (as others here have already stated - repeatedly!), different people learn in different ways. Do I try to take in a lot of input in the languages I'm learning? Yes. I also, however, find grammar explanations quite useful, particularly with highly inflected languages, like Russian. I can't imagine how long it would take me to figure out the noun declensions without reading the grammar explanations. I think by harping on grammar, you're cutting off your nose to spite your face. Can someone learn a language through a grammar book alone? Of course not. But I think they *can* be helpful.

I agree that different people study in different ways, and like to study in different ways. I do not believe that people learn in fundamentally different ways.
Learning Russian without trying to memorize or even master the noun declensions is not only feasible but, in my view, desirable. Input and vocabulary first, grammar rules come much much later.
