As far as I know Portuguese originated from Galician centuries ago....I could take a chance by saying that it's almost a "portuñol"
I recommend you to listen to Radio Galega and you'll realize how close they are:

So about four people have mentioned how Brazilian women are smokin' hot...
...in my opinion, the men are even more so ;)
I admit unashamedly that that was one of my reasons for starting to learn Portuguese!†
And, as everyone else has said, hands down the best music in South America (IMHO).

it depends on the type of music you're talking about....in fact, the quality of Brazilian music has decayed abruptly lately....that's why I've stepped it aside in order to find out what's outside the country.
