While I didn't finish Pimsleur German, I did use it for a time, and if the rate of progression is similar throughout the course, I'd say that Schau ins Land would still be above your level after finishing all of Pimsleur. I'd recommend you go with Assimil or another text after finishing up; Schau ins Land doesn't really pull any punches, and if all you've done is Pimsleur, I think you'll find yourself swimming in a lot of complex grammar that you don't understand. |

Thanks for the feedback.
I know absolutely nothing about the Assimil program, so I hope I can find it at the local library or for free online. I can't afford an expensive software program right now.

It's not software (well, ok, they have a multimedia version that I've never seen in action); it's CDs and a book containing lessons (parallel text, source and target language) and grammar notes. The CDs contain recordings of the lesson text in the target language - no more, no less. It's much more affordable than Pimsleur.
It's not legally available for free online; your library or preferred source of used books may have it.
Good luck.

Unfortunately, I just checked my library system and they don't have any Assimil products. They do have all the Pimsleur German cds, so that's all free. I'll have to pony up the money for Assimil when the time comes, but I see it is not too expensive on amazon.com.
