For Russian - Princeton Russian. You'll find this course on the Internet - it's very good and free of charge.

I'd recommend Nicholas J. Brown's New Penguin Russian Course. It's very cheap, and quite good.

I haven't been able to find any decent Romanian-teaching books (except Pimsleur. Pimsleur is great, although not exactly a book), unfortunately. But you can always move to Moldova ;) Our television consists mostly of Russian channels with shows and movies subtitled in Romanian. This way you'll be able to learn both of them.

Just joking. I apologize for not being able to recommend any Romanian material (except for e-books and audiobooks, I'm pretty sure there are some of these available). Seems you're better off with learning Russian. Although not a Romance language (unlike Romanian), there's never a shortage of Russian resources on the Web.

Someone on this forum was L-R'ing Harry Potter for Romanian; there's also an Assimil course, though only with French and Italian bases, not English or Spanish.

Russian definitely has a lot more resources.

I have just started learning Romanian because I am teaching medics on a course there next year. I can recommend the Assimil course if you can read French as a basis. It is quite expensive (still cheaper than Pimsleur), especially since the collapse of the pound against the euro, but is very good. Of course, the language is also much easier for French speakers! It claims to take you up to level B2, but I am only quarter the way through it.
I have an old version of a Colloquial Romanian course, which is also quite good. There are also a couple of podcast courses available through I-Tunes for elementary Romanian.
