Slucido, I think, you have discovered something that works for you, which could be a small epiphany for you, and then you wanted to share the idea and your enthusiasm with others. To be standing up for your ideas that long and much, you have to posess a strong evidence - for example, if you kicked ass in English, many would think you're a god, and would agree with your ideas, saying "I can't do the same, I'm lazy". This is not the case, and the rest is your POV, which is very disputable.

I really don't understand what you are talking about.

Respecting your enthusiasm and efforts, I suggest you to write an essay. Rather than forum squabbles, this will be of more use and not a timewaste. Publish it in a webpage, and leave. You'll be content of making a complete thing, you will be able to give it somebody, and years later rereading it will be a pleasure, whether you'll have changed your mind or not.

No, it's better to write here. Maybe I can write an English website, but I will continue writing here. Why? It's easy.

Every now and again I find new English words and sentences and I need to practice, then I go to this forum (or others) and I practice a lot with native speakers.

My method:

I know people is very fetishist about their methods. They believe that their methods are the best, the want to belief in shortcuts, they want to belief in magic. This is strong in language learning, because it requires a lot of effort and hard work.

If I say there isn't best methods and you need hard work, intensity and time, I know I will get strong reactions and will get a lot of practice writing with native speakers as well. Later I can get someone who proofread my writings. Basically I working like marketer who use reverse psychology.

On the other hand, I know what I am writing, I know that people understand me, I know that I can argue and give strong evidence. People who hate my ideas (or me) sometimes feel I am saying something that's true and I get tantrums and I get more and more practice.

If I convince someone, it will be very beneficial for him or her, but it will be a side effect.

I have forgotten something. Here he have disguised sales rep as well. One marketing technique is hiring people, sales rep, who work in forums like this and they explain their "honest" testimonies and opinions in forums like this. They are not telling lies, because they use self suggestion and they belief their own lies.

PS. I have learned the word "sales rep" in The big Kahuna film. Good film.

Well, slucido put his "argument" in boldface this time. Ah!
Now we see his point clearly!

Until I find a darker font I guess I lose. (Loose?)

Well, I'm going to study Mandarin now. I think I will just play a tape in my sleep
and put a Chinese novel under
my pillow, but do it FOR A LONG TIME. If I do it long enough, coupled with INTENSELY
watching movies in
Mandarin, then I shall attain advanced fluency. The method is not as important.

You forgot the loove. You gotta loove what you do and loove it long time.

Some people have a problem. They think they have a good method, but they give up after a few lessons. People have this problems with other courses as well. They have got some good advice here, but you can summarize it in three points:

1-This method is not for you. Change this method for another one.

2-Attach positive feelings to that method (classic conditioning)

3-Positive reinforcing the behavior of working with this method (operant conditioning)

If we understand this points and we are creative, we can develop a lot techniques to reinforce our target behavior

Regarding methods, be realistic please. All this method are based around translations and endeless repetitions. You learn by the repetitions and not the method itself.

Regarding my crap English. I think I am a living example about what I am talking about. Think I have listen and read hundreds of times Assimil 1 and 2. I have worked two times with Pimsleur. I have worked with Michael Thomas. I have worked with shadowing hours and the listening reading method as well. If you want you can talk in English with me on Skype, you can record it and then you can asses my speaking level. That will be a living proof about crap methods you should avoid.

I love your English. Any time I see anything by you, I jump head-over-heels into it and then desperately try to find the best method of getting out of it, I do it for a long time and thoroughly, and (usually) I succeed, it just takes time.

Thank you.

I am working with a new method. You can get fluency very quickly. It's a secret method used by spies and some selected diplomats. It follows the natural path you can find in children, but much faster. You will use your true inner potential and, without being aware, you will begin talking in languages, lots of them, painlessly, without toil. It has a side effect, maybe you will forget your native language, but I think in a few months I am going to solve this little issue.

When I finish, I am going to announce it here, but only for a few selected ones will have the method.
