Hi everyone,
It's a classic story. Poor student trying to learn French. I'd really like to find French in Action, but hilariously I cannot find it in any library or my local university (in a supposedly bilingual Canada). I hear they sometimes come on PBS, but I only get WNED and haven't seen FA there. The quality of the streaming version is unacceptable to my eyes. There is always the option of buying it, but I do not have $500+.
Anyone know where else I should look? Or whether it ever airs on WNED?

You can view the videos free here: http://www.learner.org/resources/series83.html
You can also find them on torrent websites so you can download them and not have to watch them online.

Holy mother that is cheap. Thanks!
The website looks a little iffy, but that's alright. Do you remember what the shipping cost?

I want to know where I can find the books!!
If you can show me where to get the books (digital pdf's preferred), then I can show you where to get the video. In better resolution, too, than what you get on the annenberg site.

French in Action is an awesome course if you combine the videos, audio, textbooks, workbooks and study guides.
The videos can be easily obtained online using BitTorrent.
Its a bit time consuming (although better than paying) but the audio can be obtained from this link by changing the last digits in the url:
http://otter.middlebury.edu/ns-media/frenchmedia/action/01-0 1a.mp3
To help you know how many lessons there are per lesson, use these links:
http://www.cod.edu/IT/STREAMINGMEDIA/academicaudio/French01/ french_01.html
http://www.cod.edu/IT/STREAMINGMEDIA/academicaudio/French%20 In%20Action%2002/french_02.html
For the second link, replace the % with spaces and it'll work.
For the textbooks, workbooks and study guides, use www.abebooks.com to get them secondhand. Sure, you have to pay, but you can get them quite cheaply. Just make sure you get the 2nd edition (published in 1994) because the 1st edition doesn't fit with the above audio.
