The English-based version of Using Spanish has really bad translations, but if you can understand French then you can get the French-based version of Using Spanish which is supposed to be good.

Also, if you're sufficiently familiar with any Romance language, "Using Spanish" seems fine to me. The English translations aren't ideal, but they're just supposed to help you understand the Spanish; if you can already do so, they're not a problem. I like "Using Spanish" quite a bit, for the Spanish content: it has a nice overview of the regions of Spain, etc, and it's decent shadowing material. Overall, I'd call it the nicest of the "Using" courses I've spent time with.

I suppose if I did classical Assimil active waves, the translations would be a bit more annoying.
