In a German audiomagazine I have the following sentence fragment. It is a commentator talking during the run-up to the last election.
"...in Berlin is wieder mal der Teufel los, politsch gesehen."
I know the first part translates to something like "Once again all hell has broken loose in Berlin," but how should the "politisch gesehen" be translated? I think that an idomatic translation would be, in English, "Politically speaking, once again all hell has broken loose in Berlin," using the "speaking" in the sense of "from the perspective of" the immediately preceding word. This would be like in the sentence "Politically speaking, it was a disaster, but economically it was a minor problem."
Can a German speaker confirm? Is the end clause "politisch gesehen" (politically seen) like the English idiom "politically speaking?"
Thanks
