I'm a little confused by something.
I have learned this from Pimsleur: I told you Le dije (formal) - Te dije (informal) I told him Le dije Later I read on this forum: I told you earlier (informal) Te lo dije antes I told you earlier (polite) Se lo dije antes I do not understand the polite sentence where it says SE. In Pimsleur they used LE (not lo because you are saying something TO him was their easy explanation). Now I see SE. What do I do with the SE?? (Please try to use the same kind of explaining as Pimsleur does, easy to remember rules :-) 1 person has voted this message useful | |

Simple rule: "le"+"lo/le" combination is forbidden. It's necessary to use "se"+"lo/le" instead.

Right, you only use se where you have la or lo on the other side, as "le lo dije antes" was apparently deemed to have sounded odd to the ear.
