I'm a little confused by something.
I have learned this from Pimsleur:
I told you Le dije (formal) - Te dije (informal)
I told him Le dije
Later I read on this forum:
I told you earlier (informal) Te lo dije antes
I told you earlier (polite) Se lo dije antes
I do not understand the polite sentence where it says SE.
In Pimsleur they used LE (not lo because you are saying something TO him was their easy explanation).
Now I see SE. What do I do with the SE??
(Please try to use the same kind of explaining as Pimsleur does, easy to remember rules :-)

Simple rule: "le"+"lo/le" combination is forbidden. It's necessary to use "se"+"lo/le" instead.

Ah ok, thanks!
So SE also means exactly the same as LE, but only depending on that rule you have to use one of them?

Right, you only use se where you have la or lo on the other side, as "le lo dije antes" was apparently deemed to have sounded odd to the ear.

Cool, thanks for explaining, I have pasted it in my study wordfile.
