Hello everybody ,
I'm looking for a dual language book in Arabic-English ,something like Gleb Struve's russian stories (((Here: http://www.amazon.com/Russian-Stories-Dual-Language-Gleb-Str uve/dp/0486262448/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=121948 7973&sr=8-1 ))) I've searched on Amazon ,however they do not have anything with comments from people who bought a book (and the selection is pretty narrow)... DIWAN has published some bilingual short-story collections for MSA and Egyptian Arabic. It's mostly folk tales, so the vocabulary is rather basic and mostly uses past tense.
Still, the books are perfect for beginners as the script is rather large and uses diacritic marks. Even better, the short stories are also available on CD, so you can even use them for shadowing. Unfortunately most books are Arabic-German only. As far as I've seen there is only one book in Egyptian Arabic-English (also in French): 'Goha, Wisdoms and Follies from the Orient'. Alternatively, you could always try Assimil to get some good quality input of MSA. 1 person has voted this message useful |
