Tener ganas and querer can both be used when something
is wanted. Is there a regional, politeness, romantic,
or other difference in meaning between tener ganas and
querer? For instance, do these two phrases mean the
same thing, or is there a some distinctions that can be
made?
Tengo ganas de verte.
Quiero verte.
Quisiera is a subjunctive conjugation of querer that I
understand is more polite than "quiero". There is also
"gustaría", a conditional form of gustar. If you want
to shine some light on how these differ as well, that
would be nice.
Quisiera verte.
Me gustaría verte.

"Tengo ganas de verte" is a stronger feeling of want than "Quiero verte".
You might say to your wife: "Tengo muchísimas ganas de verte mañana" = I am longing to see you tomorrow
You might say to your employee: "Quiero verte en mi oficina inmediatamente" = I want to see you in my office immediately

I prefer the second version, even when being polite, e.g. "Me gustaría que usted viera como esta creciendo mi hijo" = I wish you (polite) could see how my son is growing.
Sounds more natural to me.
