Does anyone know what accent the Daphne Moon character of the TV show Frasier had? I've recently realized that (American) TV show was by far the most exposure to British accents that I had and I want to know which one it was.

Daphne kind of had a Manchester/North West (at least thats where her character was supposed to be from) accent although it wasn't too thick.

I looked for a video of that charecter.
From what I saw it seemed to be a kind of generic Northern accent. Not particularly specific to Manchester but if I had to pick a major city to place it I would choose that.
Here is the typical Mancunian accent for those interested:

It was supposed to be a Manchester accent, although I used to live in Manchester and I didn't think it was that realistic. I think the actress is actually from Yorkshire, though I don't know that for sure.

Her bio says she is from Salford. Maybe she watered down her accent to make herself understood in the US. I often have to talk in something like BBC English over here to be understood by older people. I model my speech on Jeremy Paxman in these cases. :)
