ø must be one of the coolest letters people came up with, so norsk + dansk

I prefer å, ä and ö as in Swedish for several reasons (I'm not sure why å wasn't mentioned ?).
The Swedish letters are much simpler to write, I like them better personally, and they have them in German too. Thus they are already used by a much larger number of native speakers: Finland, Sweden and Germany put together very comfortably outnumber Denmark and Norway.
Having said that I think it's cute to see those "ae" and "oe" combinations when I'm in Denmark, but in Swedish they would just be out of place and feel very wrong. French does have the "oe"-combination though.
Actually, I guess what I really prefer is for each of these languages to stick to the system they have.

2 reasons. Finnish doesn't have it yet Swedish, Danish and Norwegian all share it. It doesn't work for this thread. :p

the icelandic ð has to be the prettiest letter in the world. My English O's often look like that for some reason. |

I agree, and the sound it represents is one of my favorites. I wish more languages had it.
As to the topic, I have an affinity for the Swedish language (blame Ingmar Bergman) but I like the Danish-Norwegian letters more.

ae and oe are cute! But as a Swede I stick with ä and ö. Even so it would be sad if for example the danes and norwegans adopted äö.

I love the Danish/Norwegian spelling.
æ is one of the most beautiful characters ever in any script :)

I like both the same way.
I like Ä and Ö because they're elegant, but I also like Æ and Ø because they're very particular

æ certainly makes more sense which is good for beginners but....only first lesson beginners. Its a bit of a bitch to write, ä though is simple.
