Although my site is principally about learning to listen to French, speaking French is very much a related topic, and I decided this week to start offering a page on this subject - see www.sonsenfrancais.org/elocution.html (Sorry Moderator, I know we shouldn't advertise, but it's in a good cause...)
People often ask, 'how can I improve my accent?', by which they mean how can I speak a more 'natural' Fench? I know people who've lived in France for years, speak good French, but retain a very strong, stilted British accent.
My own idea is that we choose a model, someone (or a group of people) we would like to speak like, and we try to imitate. Who do you feel are the models we should try to imitate? Nicolas Sarkozy ? Perhaps the presenters of television shows ? Film actors ? Laurent Gerra/Nicolas Canteloup ?
I'd be grateful for any ideas, suggestions for sound clips etc.
