Like I have already mentioned in a previous post, since I am fed up with the fall of educative quality of this forum and all the left-wing liberal rants, I am considering whether or not I should just discard of my membership and find new internet fora.
Also since I realize that participating in English language forums doesn't do any good for my Japanese, I think that soon I will make the decision to use nothing but Japanese internet as a general policy.
I am interesting in beginning to use Japanese fora. I have been looking at some of the more general interactive internet sites like oshiete1 and chiebukuro. Maybe I will create an account.
What I would like you guys to do is recommend some fora in Japanese. My main interest is language learning. However, I am pretty sure that I won't find a language learning forum like this in the Japanese internet. I am unsure what type of forum/ discussion board I would like to join. So please give me some suggestions!

Don't be fed up.
"2-channel" and "mixi" are the two biggest forums that are written in Japanese.
Of the two, 2-channel is the forum whose users are believed to be the largest in number over the globe. The topics which are talked about are almost everything, of course including language learning. The site is so notorius for its anarchistic management policy that the postings are much more vulgar and provocative than those on this refined BBS. Please remember not to make known any of your personal data there. No fee nor registration is needed.

The mixi service provides a forum, blogs, games, news, etc. If you want to create an account, you've got to be 15 years old or over (full membership, 18 or over), have an e-mail address, and have a member who will hook you up with the website. You don't usually need any fees even though there's a pay optional service. The topics in the forum vary just as in 2-channel. The administration seems rather reasonable.

By the way, doesn't anyone know something like English versions of the above two?

Bird, didn't mixi change registration policy last year so that you need to have a valid Japanese cell phone number to register there? Did they change it again?

No one has stepped forward so...
Wiki-mixi. "By invitation only"
It looks like Mixi is the antithesis of the other one, the ni-channel, which is total anonymity to the point where defamers and slanderers can't be held accountable for damage they can cause. I suppose for truly skilled, merciless debaters this one is the way to go. Talk about freedom. Looks like you can get slammed pretty easily, though.
EDIT: hold on, wiki.jp has this but my Japanese is still pretty limited: ただし、2009年以降、招待状無しでも参加で る登録制が導入される予定である。
Does this mean we can get in (without a reference)?

Still, unless it's changed in the past year, you need a Japanese cell phone to register.

Oh, I'm sorry.
I checked the official FAQ pages and they said you need a Japanese cellphone or PHS when registering. The time that you need a phone is only when you register and you can access from overseas from that on even after the phone becomes unavailable, but you cannot register unless you, or someone else for you, do have a Japanese phone not registered with the site at the moment.

2-channel isn't a very good place indeed, but some kind of order is also there. It's not a place where there're only nasty guys. You would have understood it, though.

Even though it mightn't change that you need a Japanese cellphone or PHS, the answer itself is yes. I'm not sure, however, if it's reliable because it used the vague expression of 2009年以降 (in or after 2009).
Incidentally, you can easily find on the Internet as in 2-channel someone who invites you to the service.
