First thing is to get a good attitude about people. Nice, engaging, forgiving of mistakes they can make and interested in what they do.
Have you tried joining a club or 'association' of like-minded people? Nice is big enough for you to find people with similar interests. If you are nice to them, you can probably make some friends. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

You could also try just walking around town, visiting shops, and talking to the shop keepers, or your fellow shoppers.
