There is a Wikipedia item about this guy. He was an American baseball player who was a good linguist and was also involved in wartime espionage. Some say he knew seven languages, some ten, one of them being Japanese. He was known to shout instructions in Latin to another player as a code during games.
An interesting, somewhat eccentric individual.

Yes, quite an odd guy:
For the next 20 years, Berg had no real job, living off friends and relatives who put up with him because of his charisma. When they would ask what he did for a living, he would reply by putting his finger to his lips, giving them the impression that he was still a spy[...] His brother finally grew fed up with the arrangement and asked Moe to leave and even had eviction papers drawn up. After being evicted from his brother's home, Berg moved in with his sister Ethel in Belleville, New Jersey, where he remained for the rest of his life.

I felt there were gaps in knowledge about Berg, and this made him seem more mysterious in his behaviour. Perhaps he had a nervous breakdown, perhaps he encountered a setback in his personal life. The Wikipedia item was like a jigsaw puzzle with a number of missing pieces.
