i don't know if this has been posted yet, but it's mighty interesting. it's an over view of kato lomb's method of language study as she outlined in a book. for those who don't know she was a hungarian polyglot who could speak 17 languages.

Kato Lomb has been mentioned in several old threads, but her name in some of these old threads was hit by a shift in encoding on the site which make it problematic to find them by searching. This is a shame because she did have some interesting ideas.

What a great book this is. It is reminiscent of Farber's book in the way that she provides inspiring examples of her own experiences learning languages, and yet it seems to provide more depth than his. She gives a lot of information in here; I can't wait to read the whole thing. My interest in languages has waned in recent months, but this book has given me a new rush of excitement to carry on, just as Farber's book did for me years ago. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

@frenkeld: Thanks for the link. Yes, this did remind me of Farber's book in the way it boosted my motivation to study foreign languages.
I just reread the introduction and there she mentions a chapter about her studying Japanese. I might have missed it somehow, but I don't remember such a chapter. 1 person has voted this message useful |
