Living in Vietnam I am often asked if I would mind teaching English to people I meet out and about... The lady at the spa, the security guard of the building where my friends live. Everyone wants to learn English, but of course the cost of language courses are out of reach for most people, with the privileged few able to afford them. Most people would find the cost of the books for self study prohibitive.
I already do some volunteer teaching which I take very seriously but I don't have time for anymore. What is cheap and readily available is the internet! Does anyone know of an excellent online course for learning English, that is of course, FREE. It would be nice to refer them to a good course online, where they could have a go at learning very cheaply, if they are prepared to put in the effort. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

I do not think it is a very hard question. You can find tons of the resources on line today, if like you said: "they are prepared to put in the effort".
Here are my two favorite and I like the Canadian source more, because of the North American English, but I did not check if Canadian site has instruction in Vietnamese. http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/ Canadian ***I have to add this remark, that the Canadian site had changed a lot, it is a completely different as I knew it.
