I'm 37.
English: Native. French: Being originally from Louisiana, I grew up speaking Creole French ( kind of a mix of 70% French, 10% English, 10% Spanish and 10% made up words). I took text-book (proper) French from Kindergarten all the way through 12th Grade. I have been fluent in Creole since about age 7 and comfortably fluent in proper French since about age 12. I am almost as comfortable in French as I am in English. My accent is noticeably Cajun, but I have no trouble communication with regular French speakers. I don't really LIKE French, which is unfortunate, but it is what it is. Spanish: As a Restaurant Manager for over 10 years with a lot of Spanish speaking employees, I can speak very decent "kitchen Spanish". Basically, if it can be said in a kitchen/restaurant setting, I can talk about it. My vocab is fairly limited and my grammar is bad, but my colloquialisms are extensive and I can get by (maybe A2). German: I started it last year as a personal challenge, and was able to get up to a comfortable B2 within a year's time. I absolutely LOVE German and would speak it full time if I could. I go to several German Language meetup groups on a weekly basis and I am at my best when speaking German. I hope to reach C1/C2 someday. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

I'm 42.

I'm 18.
Dutch: Native. English: I can't remember when I properly started studying English, but I've been exposed to it since the age of 4. I formally studied it for ten years, and I lived in the U.S. for six months. I think my English is between C1/C2. I actually don't study it actively anymore, I just maintain it French: Started studying French when I was 10. Right now I'm doing a course in Paris and I think my French is like a lower B2. English: (Native Language) Although born in Switzerland, we speak English at home. Swiss-German: (Native level) Since I was born until today. German: (Native level) From about 7 years old to 18 years old at school. I'm 22. It was important for me to get started with pretty much everything that interests me before 20. Mum started teaching me basic English already when I was 4, I started learning it at school at 8; I started German at 13, Latin at 14, Finnish at 15 (and passed C1 at 20). Can't be bothered to list them all after that :)

I'm not sure if I have ever replied to this before, but I also didn't search every post of the thread to check. Apologies in advance if this is a repeat.
I am currently 38 years old. English (American dialect) [native] Spanish - 14 years Russian - 17 years Hungarian - 21 years Finnish - 22 years German - 23 years Japanese - 36 years French - 37 years I'm not very good at French or Hungarian, but every once in a while I am surprised about how much I actually know from the other languages. I don't think I've replied to this before... I'm 25. My interest in languages is relatively recent.
English: native. My Scottish accent isn't as strong as it used to be, but people from other countries (even English-speaking ones) do sometimes have trouble understanding me... French: been studying it for about 3 years, plus another 5 at school; needless to say I've learnt a hell of a lot more in these latter three years than the whole time at school. My level's advanced but not quite fluent, somewhere between B2 and C1. Italian: been studying it for just over a year. I'm intermediate, working towards B2. 2 persons have voted this message useful |
