Hi all,
I've done a search but most of the replies seemed somewhat out of date. I was wondering what the latest and greatest resources for learning Persian are? It seems like a language that is hard to find extensive resources for. I have to admit that even though I'd like to start with Persian, the lack of materials are making me consider going with Arabic instead. Your help is greatly appreciated. Visit the National Middle East Language Resource Center, click on Persian, and browse around. The textbook by Stilo, Talattof and Clinton might be a good one -- Yale University Press offers plenty of sample pages in .pdf format you can take a look at.
Make sure you visit Ibex Publishers for some learner's materials, and check out Easy Persian if you haven't already. Don't be prematurely discouraged by an apparent lack of resources. Living Language came out with a Persian (Farsi) course under their new "World Languages" series back in late '07. Pretty affordable and 6 CDs. Materials for Persian aren't quite up there with Arabic yet, you're right, but you should be able to find enough to at least give you a good base as magister said.

Yes I too have seen Living Language have put out a Persian course and have been wondering what the course is like or what kind of material is in it.

My friend has a Rosetta stone version of Farsi (http://www.rosettastone.co.uk/offer/persian-farsi?s_kwcid=r osetta%20stone%20farsi|2595039485&gclid=COz5gb6A05gCFQFhQgod dQ6N1A) maybe you should persue that, however take a look at these sites, you may need them in the future:
