It was fun to read, although the first half of it seemed to be autobiography.

None of it was radically new material. He pushes keeping your interest level high, flashcards, and talking through a service like skype.

I thought it was more like an updated version of Barry Farber.

The only thing that was new to me was the number of hours to become fluent, from the FSI materials, which is drastically more time than you get in say, a Pimsleur course. (Such as for Spanish, which FSI lists as several hundred hours, and 3 levels of Pimsleur gives you 45 hours).

Has anyone else read this book? I'm seriously considering getting it.

I mean, damn that is one hell of a convincing advertisement he has. Here's just a small section of it:

"I'll show you what I realized after buying grammar book after grammar book and discovered something I never
expected to find in a million years.

I'll teach you why language classes, audio programs, immersion programs and more alone will not make you
fluent (this is the kind of information language teachers do NOT want you to know!)

I'll show you why language learning can be a fun process and not painful at all. You'll learn three motivating
tricks that you can use at any time that you feel language learning is getting too boring or hard for you
(language learning is a long task, you don't want to miss these!)

I'll show you how to use time management to recover moments in your day you never realized you had for
learning more of your language.

I'll teach you a trick that will enable you to learn faster than anyone else in your class. This is the exact
technique I used to surpass even the smartest students in my language classes!

Why your choice in language could mean the difference between an easy ride to fluency or failure (make sure you
read this even if you have already started learning a language, it could save you)

One simple, yet powerful shift in thinking that will have you learning the language so that you will speak it
naturally and without mistakes!

The one thing that everyone should be focusing on when studying a language but rarely anyone does! You need
to learn this if you want to become fluent in your language in any reasonable amount of time.

...and a whole lot more. This is just a sample of what is waiting for you inside the course."

I really want to trust this guy, but can't help but feel it's a scam.

I hope I can get more info from this thread, and in the mean time here's a direct link to his ad:

No such thing as a free lunch, and there is no such thing as a free language. :P

What you put in = What you get out of it :)

I almost bought that, then I realized "I've been studying Spanish for years, there's no way he fooled natives." I fooled natives twice, just because I know regional slang, popular stars, and other things. It takes a lot too.

I say it's a scam.

I'd look at "Benny the Irish Polyglot" actually, his stuff is excellent, and free. He's a member here, and he knows what he's talking about. "irishpolyglot"

I bought it and it is not a scam. For someone who really wants to learn a language and is thinking about investing $500 for Rosetta or taking a college class, this course would obviously be money very well spent. For someone who hangs out on this forum a bit, I don't think the book is necessary at all. What is recommended in the booklet seems to align with a lot of common recommendations heard around here.
