Ah, OK! I wasn't sure if you were American or not. The reason I asked is because in the UK, the term 'Paki' is used by racists to insult anyone of South Asian origin, whether they are from Pakistan or not- I think it started in the 70s when there was a new wave of immigration from Pakistan, India and Bangladesh, and most racist people are too ignorant to know the difference between these countries. I don't know if the term is used in the US, but it's quite taboo here!

Welcome to the forum by the way :-)

Note that the US Government says that motivated students studying at the DLI with 25 hours of class per week with 3-4 hours per day of directed self-study still need 1,100 hours to reach B2+/C1-. Given that, I think your schedule for French (at least) is highly optimistic.

As far as the resources, I am so surprised to know that u think they are insufficient? I thought they were way too much. Academic book + FSI + ASSIMIL + Rosetta Stone/Pimsleur + Grammar + Vocabulary + Literaty Texts. They are insufficient?

Also you said that listening component is missing? Have u tried FSI, Assimil? or the Academic books... All of them have listening components... and the preparatory books for DALF C1 & DALF C2 have gigantic amount of listening and oral components.

I think what Julie meant is that in order to become perfectly fluent (C2) you will at some time have to stop using instructional material and use native material. While instructional material is very helpful, it cannot take you all the way to C2. For example, if you want to get a handle on the colloquial use of French you will eventually have to use audio books or movies.

Thanks for the response Paskwc...

Instructional Material ends at intermediate level. Advanced Level involves the use of native material. Preparation for c1 and c2 level... is all about practise ...
