Hi, I need your help concerning the following three problems:
Which form is correct? a) I'm preparing a dissertation AT? or IN? an institute. b) It is the only comprehensive news program IN? or ON? the US television. c) Can you say you COMPLETED postgraduates studies? I'm preparing a disertation at an institute.

a) I'm preparing a dissertation AT (place) the Institute IN (studies).
b) Programs are ON the television. c) Completed postgraduate studies is the usual phrase. Graduation is for high school and undergraduate degrees so it would be baffling to say someone graduated from a post-graduate program. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

I would say "...program on U.S. television," and NOT "...program on THE U.S. television." Just me? I watched a program on TV last night. I saw that on TV. He is the best actor on TV. "in" and "on" the market both exist.
"on the market" suggests it's a particular item that we're talking about -- something that is "on the market" is available to buy: "This razor is the best on the market." "in the market" is normally used in reference to a company's position in the market: "Bic is one of the strongest players in the market for disposal razors" 1 person has voted this message useful | |
