Useful for Australians, but also people in Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia and the USA judging by the links on the main page.

Kinokuniya Books is a massive bookshop in the Galeries Victoria in Sydney: which has a decent language section, especially by Australian standards (many more than borders in Brisbane anyway) with a focus on Japanese and Chinese. It has masses of books in Japanese, and lots of mangaesque things as well. I'm not the right person to judge but it looked cool.

The website isn't really impressive, but Sydneysiders can find the physical shop here:

Yeah, I've been there. It's pretty good and indeed the Chinese section is better than any bookshop in Chinatown.

For grammar books etc., Abbey's is still better.
