I studied German with a method that appears to no longer be available called Méthode 90.
I was called "L'allemand en 90 leçons et en 90 jours" (http://www.livrenpoche.com/livre/L-allemand-en-90-lecons-et -en-90-jours/126036.html) I had quite enjoyed it actually... I also had the Russian version. 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

I'm using the same kind of materials with Italian as I used for learning French: Michel Thomas (but his accent is awful!), The Schaum's Outline of Grammar, and the Mastering Vocabulary series. From there to dual-language books and TV programs with Italian vocal tracks and subtitles.

I like hugo's Portuguese in 3 months. The pimsleur and michel thomas audio courses are good too.

I think Michel Thomas French is fantastic. The German course is great too, but it leaves
out a lot of the very basic grammar. I have used Assimil for French, German and Japanese, and I am currently using the Arabic course for French speakers -it has more material than its English counterpart. I think that FSI is incredibly dull, but the drills can be useful for speeding up the processing of a language. I wouldn't use it unless I was already fairly competent in a language. 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

I love Pimsleur for Russian. Using LingQ at the moment or it and love that too. Tried
Michel Thomas and it really annoys me. When I was learning Spanish I used Linguaphone. It was perfect for me at the time as I was new to language learning so I liked the slow pace. 2 persons have voted this message useful |
