Very close! Well done!

I haven't studied Esperanto much (aside from some free correspondence lessons in the '80s), but like you said, knowledge of several European languages makes your sentence transparent.

Without knowing ANY Slavic language, I have no chance at all because I don't understand a single word.

I leave this translation challenge to others!

This game is an interesting idea and I'd like to participate too. But I am stumped and my hands are tied at the moment because I am clueless about the last post. Maybe the rules should include a mechanism for getting out of dead ends, like (perhaps) is happening with the phrase in Czech above.

I can't think of any really sophisticated way of handling it off hand, and there are probably better ways, but how about this addition to the rules: If say four days have passed without response it would be legitimate for anyone to jump in and take off in another direction with another language.

I agree that Matteo's idea is interesting and it has potential to be a fun activity. Like Hencke, I think it just needs a few tweaks.

I'd hate to be the cause of a 4-day holdup, just because there happen to be few Czech speakers on this forum. I'll provide the translation this weekend if no one else does.

It's our game, lets put rules to get it better!
:)

I have an idea to make it more easy to learning and to find someone who knows the languages.

What do you think about divide the game in languages families... for example...

"Translation game (only latin languages)"
"Translation game (only Germanic languages)"
"Translation game (only slavics languages)"

Well... this is just an idea.

I'd like to be able to take part in this, and implementing Matteo's idea would make that possible, and probably encourage more people to take part, also. That has my vote :]

Perhaps after a certain period of time, somebody can "cheat" and use a translator like Reverso or Google Translate. I'll admit I already put the Czech sentence into Google Translate, but I won't give away its meaning.
