Ek is jammer te sê my TAC was laaste naweek amper ontspoor. Ongelukkig ek het nou meer stres in my lewe, geen ernstig probleme nie, maar soms klein frustrasies. Ek sal nie TAC verlaat nie, en nooit sal ek mislukking beken nie! Ja my biologie klas is net sleg, maar die klas sal volgende week einde so ek nie so bekommerd oor dit is nie.
Ek kyk nou spaans televisie, alhowel ek hou nie van "soap operas" nie, maar ek het slegs een ander keus, engels televisie en engel televisie sal met my taal studies geen help wees nie. Ek verstaan slegs 'n paar woorde, maar vind ek die "soap opera" baie vervelig. Lekker dag Mick I'll have to edit this later, I know there are a few mistakes but I'm getting tired. EDIT 11/3/10 I not only corrected some errors, but I also added a few things and will give a summarized English translation. I'm sorry to say that for me TAC was almost derailed last weekend because of my stressful life. But I won't abandon TAC, nor will I admit failure! My biology class will be done next week so I'm not worried about it. I'm watching Spanish TV right now, even though I don't like soap operas. I understand some words but I still find soap operas boring. I really need to find an Afrikaans term for "soap opera"; using the English term just seems awkward. Creyera el tema de la conversación primera fue una saludable dieta y ahora es un discusión de la historia y la cultura de EEUU. Entiendo alguno sueco hablada ahora pero yo ni hablo ni entiendo sueco con fluidez todavía, por tanto escribo el mensaje en español.

Yesterday I listened to Finnish radio for 1 hour, I think I understood less than 5% percent of what was said but I didn't care. I'm getting more comfortable with the sound of the language, which is what I expected to happen. Today I joined the Vi-studerar-svenska Yahoo discussion group which allows posts in English and Swedish, but almost everything I've read there is in Swedish which will be very good practice for me; especially because my reading comprehension in Swedish is very low. This afternoon I focused on Swedish pronunciation by singing along to music. After I eat dinner I'll study biology and then find something to read in Spanish. If there's time, and I'm not too tired I'll briefly look over some grammar for both languages.
Last week I mentioned listing how many hours I spent on various study activities for the week; but I forgot about that until now. This list will be for two weeks Spanish: Textbook study - 1/2 hour Passive listening - 3 hours Song translations - about 1 hour scriptorium - 1 hour Afrikaans: Study out of books - 1/2 hour Passive listening - 2 hours Song/ or text translations - 1/2 hour Scriptorium - 1/2 hour Finnish: Study out of books - about 2 hours Pronunciation practice - about 3 hours Passive Listening - 1 1/2 hours Swedish: Study out of books - 1 1/2 hours Pronunciation practice - about 3 hours Passive Listening - 1 1/2 hours Hej då Mick Edited by mick33 on 14 March 2010 at 4:39am 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

Last week I was busy studying for, and taking final exams for school. I did also do some language learning, mostly listening and pronunciation practice for Swedish and Finnish as my pronunciation of those languages seems awkward to me, especially Finnsh. This just means that I have sometimes been too self-conscious about pronunciation and I need to hear more of these languages which I will do now.

Mick, mag ik vragen, wat "Scriptorium" precies is? Ik weet dat dat een techniek van Alexander Arguelles is, maar ik heb geen idee wat daar nou achter zit. Kun je mij dat in het Engels uitleggen graag? Of tweetalig Afrikaans / Engels?

I must disagree with your assessment that pronunciation will necessarily improve as you progress, or that it will necessarily be bad at the beginning. Many people start with a relatively good accent, and many keep their bad accent even when they are advanced.

Scriptorium is 'n manier om geskrewe tekste te afskryf. Scriptorium is a way to written texts transcribe. Jy kan boeke, webwerve, koerante ens. gebruik. You can books, websites, newspapers etc. use. 1. Lees 'n sin hardop. Read a sentence aloud. 2. Sê hardop elke woord terwyl jy die enkeling woord gelyktydig skryf. Say aloud each word while you the individual word simultaneously write. 3. Lees jou geskrewe sin hardop. Read your written sentence aloud. Agter jy het 'n sin geskryf, jy kan in die woordeboek nuwe woorde opsoek, maar ek dink nie dat jy nuwe woorde moet opsoek nie After you have a sentence wrote, you kan in the dictionary new words look up, but I think not that you new words have to look up not. Ek dink dat scriptorium gewoonlik 'n tussentyds tegniek is, maar dit kon ook 'n begin tegniek wees.
