I try to avoid the temptation to bring to this forum French listening problems. However, when the frustration builds and I'm losing sleep... it so happens this is where all the experts hang out
Before Christmas I put up on sonsenfrancais.org a 'challenge' to Anglophone visitors. Three parody songs by Gérald Dahan. Brel, Aznavour, Gainsbourg - with lyrics about Sarkozy, naturally The page is at www.sonsenfrancais.org/challenge.html I offered a transcripton of the first (I am a student, not an expert), and it was for the students who visit the site to provide the words of the other two. I got a lot of responses, but everyone bombed out on the second. A very unusual problem - two lines which seem clear, but can't be right They sound like Il probec, il dissuaie, il ennuie les bourgeois aller trop lourd Unfortunately, neither probecer nor dissuaier exist in French The second problem section follow the line 'Il voyage' before where he says it was 'parce qu'il a balladé tout nu/Sur les plages I actually found another recording of Dahan's theatre show - same words, same problem So there we go. To avoid downloading the whole video (worth it, it's very funny), have a look at www.sonsenfrancais.org/tmp where you'll find an mp3, Dahan-2.mp3 which is just this song Thank you !
