I hope I am not beating a dead horse here but...here is my situation.
I took a test and found I am Beginner Intermediate. I can provide the link if anyone wants to grade themselves and find out what they are...
I feel like I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.
My goal: to be natively fluent.
Beginner courses bore me and don't challenge me enough. And advanced courses are too "advanced."
Where do I go from here? There does not seem to be a substantial enough Intermediate course besides your run of the mill "learn about this culture course."
Help!!
also I have to add that...does anyone else feel they can understand non native's Spanish moreso than the natives....incredibly frustrating.

If you're already comfortable with the beginner-intermediate material, then perhaps it's a sign that you're ready to move on to playing with more native resources. In addition to the usual recommendations to listen to Spanish music in the background, and listen to podcasts and radio and watch some tv/films, have you tried any of the following so far?
- Listening-Reading with fun and engaging quality novels in Spanish.
- An intermediate-advanced phonetic training course to improve your pronunciation.
- A brief flick through a foundation grammar book to acquaint yourself with the basics.
- Shadowing and/or Chorusing passages from a favourite section of text or some song lyrics.
- Prof Arguelles' "Scriptorium" technique, where you copy out and repeat sentences slowly and thoughtfully in the language.
- Creative writing and discussions with the help of a native speaker (ideally a tutor).
- Chatting with friends or over Skype with language partners in Spanish.
- A trip to sunny Spain for a little bit of immersion and relaxation.
Just a few ideas thrown out there - hope this helps! (...and I like the username by the way ^u^ )

Thanks Teango I will try all those suggestions.. I'm intrigued by the scriptorium technique.
Johntm...I think you forgot to place the link??
Here is the placement test. It was provided by a state school, so you may have to try to obtain a free username and password to logon from the various schools participating. Usually can find it on the college website.
There are French, German, Mandarin, Italian placement tests as well.
http://webcape.byu.edu and check the list of schools

To get a passsword, just go to any of those listed school's websites..(try choosing a public university). Navigate to their language department....and usually they will provide a free password.
Sorry I gave a bad link..but Teango found it.
