Today I put up onto Youtube my most ambitious video so far:
An introduction to verbal aspect in slavic languages, and in particular the difference between perfective and imperfective verbs. Of course, this is a huge topic that could take hours to cover. Since I only had ten minutes I could only touch on the subject, but I hope it helps those who have so far struggled with this complex subject. I haven't got to that part of my studies in Russian yet where fellow language learners roll their eyes and muse about plodding through the mires of verbal aspects, but when I do later this year, I'll be much better prepared with your explanation and sporting a new hardy pair of verbal welligogs. You Tube is a good way to come in contact with other language learners, because other people see directly what you are doing with your languages, which gives a good impression. My Skype contacts are based on my You Tube activities. Without uploading my videos I wouldn't be doing polyglot skyping now.

Somebody sent me a question in Czech, so I decided to answer it in Czech, and I put that answer up on youtube.
I am a little nervous about putting up this video, given the high level of abilities of the many polyglots on here. My own abilities are far more limited, as you will see. The video is full of (hopefully minor) mistakes, primarily due to nerves and me having limited brain power. I realised many of the mistakes as soon as I made them, but thought "what the heck" and decided to put the video up anyway. I much prefer this to be an unedited realistic recording of me speaking free-flowing unprepared Czech. It is what Oliver Cromwell would have called "warts and all". After making the video I went through the painful and slow process of creating subtitles in English. It's not a language competition here! So that's a good idea to upload some spoken Czech. I had some people asking me to create subtitles for my videos.
