Apparently Nick Clegg, leader of the Liberal Democrats(UK political party) speaks English,
Dutch, French, German, and Spanish.

Caught a brief conversation that he had in Spanish with a Venezuelan while on the campaign
trail recently.

Interesting. though not interested in a leader of a liberal party personally.

Not sure why anyone would reply simply to say that they were not interested in the topic. It wouldn't be something about trying to inflate the post count would it?

Very interesting man this Mr Clegg. I heard something about him today, but didn't catch it all. Apparently he has a half-Russian father, a Dutch mother, and a Spanish wife, the perfect conditions to create a polyglot.

He has my vote.

Voting for someone based on their being a polyglot irrespective of their politics is politically irresponsible in my opinion, but I like the fact Clegg is multilingual, and wish there were more British politicians like him.

Tha sounds like a very atypical background for a British politician!

Erm, I thought it was obvious that it was a joke. Obviously not. I am voting Liberal for entirely different reasons, and I happen to be very politically aware, and follow the politics of my country very closely. Not that it has anything to do with you.

I found a video through wikipedia where he speaks Dutch:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newsvideo/uk-politics-video/ 7603906/Nick-Clegg-gives-interview-in-fluent-Dutch.html

Anyone with any knowledge of Dutch who can judge him?
