What about their claim that completing the 'With Ease' courses takes you to level B2, and the 'Advanced' courses takes you to level C1? Does this have any truth in it?

I think, reaching a level C1 needs much more effort than working through a very good language course. Maybe it is enough for your active skills, if you have exellent material, and work carefully with it. But level C1 requires already a great amount of passive knowledge, i.e. passive vocabulary and cultural background.
And aside from that, language learning has allways become interesting to me, when i was able to read and understand original material, such as books or newspapers.

Thanks for the responses!
Out of interest, is there any information available about the approximate number of words that are taught in the Advanced series (I am particularly thinking of 'Using French' here)?

I agree with that. The "Using" program is quite advanced though... it will take some vocabulary study on the learners part, but overall I think you could have a very nice skill in the language if you go through both the With Ease and Using and retain it. :)
I love Assimil.

Dear all, perhaps the following has been discussed before...but does anyone have any advice/tip as to how best to go about using the "Advanced Assimil Course"? In the advanced Italian course, the conversations were spoken already that fast, there's no way we could repeat after each sentence...thanks for any advice in advance!
