what's the best way of utilizing the internet in order to improve oneself in colloquial Polish? In terms of grammar, i am an advanced learner..but i don't know where to go next. I'm mainly focusing on being able to chat with someone without sounding strange, that is, using words that a Pole would use (when to use 'przybywać' instead of 'przychodzić', etc., or using 'haha fajnie, wymiatam', etc.), and also learning the vocabulary that are used most often in day-to-day conversations and in internet chats, to minimize time spent on learning obsolete, or barely-used words...
Also,I want to find day-to-day dialogues (preferably with Polish transcriptions) that i can translate to Polish for practice (e.g. those type of dialogues along the lines of those found in 'Two and a Half Men', or some soap operas; I'd prefer any dialogue with some comedy, useful colloquial words,etc.) So, where to go from here?....without spending anything:D I apologize for being a bit too demanding.... Well, YouTube is your friend. However, to find sth with Polish transcriptions won't be easy. Although it should't be difficult to find Polish movies with English subtitles (somewhere else than YT that is).
If you look up the Polish titles of internationally known cartoons on the Wikipedia, many of them should be available on YouTube in Polish (dubbed) versions. e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSd2NBLKqQU ("Gumisie", aka "The Gummi Bears") http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6tUZjUbW18 ("Smerfy", aka "The Smurfs") This cartoon is saturized with colloquial speech: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWnmLEi2_tY&feature=related But you've got to be aware that street vernacular is full of ungrammatical forms. I think that watching films in English, yet with Polish subtitles would also be a great practice. _______________________ This legendary Polish cartoon might be the best one! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul8-1wRbTCA ("Miś Uszatek" = Uszatek Bear) The dialogues are great, they partain to all domains of life, and there is a narrator, which makes it easier to grasp the plot. The lector speaks slowly and clearly as well. By the way, the cartoons from the Eastern European countries that I was raised with were soooo much better than the violent, action packed cartoons that came from the west. They talked about the important things in life, inspired creativity, tought good manners etc. *sigh* -------- And how good is your listening comprehension actually? Rozumiesz filmy po Polsku? Well, you could also start listening to polish radio. It may not be full of colloquial
words but it is definitely more natural way of speaking then textbooks. TOK FM is a talking radio so you can listen to it anytime you want. http://www.tok.fm/TOKFM/0,88710.html (click on the "posluchaj radia" and choose, tuba fm is good, it's live stream). There's VOD from Onet. You have many programmes there. http://vod.onet.pl/tv,katalog-tv,polski,36,0,Title_ASC,1,1,p odkategoria.html you can find also some tv shows there, where you can get to listen to real polish (section "Seriale" then "Polski", "Usta, usta" is a bit like a comedy show) Hmmm, I don't know what else.
