I was wondering if anyone has tried this and if so what were their results, because I'm using it now for Italian. If nobody has I will surely write a review on it when I'm finished.

I have used the first 1/3 of the German Headstart program. Alas, it is for absolute beginners. Kind of "traveler's phrases"-ish. Asking directions, learning your numbers, etc. Lots of English on the tapes, too. Stuph like, "Stop the tape now and reread Excercise Three," and "Now let's reveiw this conversation again. This time you repeat Mr. Smith's lines."

I was using it until I could get my hands on Assimil, but I've found it very easy to follow. I'm pretty much a total novice in Italian

I'm a novice as well and I just finished Lesson 3 of FSI Headstart Italian. It's too early to tell if it's good or not. I might have an opinion after a couple of weeks.
