Ha ha.Loved the surprise ending. Disappointed not to hear a few bars of the Star Spangled
Banner, though.

Nice. But wasn't that supposed to be the Peter principle?

The video was awesome, I really liked it, before AND after I watched it (although the reasons why are different:D). Anyway, it's very enlightening, and helps the learner not to get so deluded and disappointed with himself. As the saying goes,'it's okay to have your head in the clouds, just as long as you keep your feet on the ground.

I was also wondering how big of an impact the other subjects you've mastered will bring on the next one and the 10,000 hour rule (e.g. someone who's a native speaker or English will not need 10,000 hrs to master Spanish since there are some concepts in Spanish that you've indirectly already mastered in English, while when it comes to highly-inflected languages as well as Asian ones, it might take 10,000 or more hours, since we're basically dealing with a lot of rules that don't really exist in the language that you've mastered already, so one has to really start from 0 hrs) Same goes with a Frenchman who plans to master Italian, some few hours of the 10,000 hrs were already spent on his mother language, since he has INDIRECTLY mastered a little bit of Italian grammar and stuff already. I wonder what the maintenance hours per day as well, does it exist?

This is the most infuriating thing. You wanna be a polyglot. Someone posts a video on how to become a polyglot. Everyone praises the video to the skies and tell you how great it is. The vid is on YouTube for anyone to see.

You're in China.

I don't think a person can devote 10,000 hours to anything without having a certain
affinity for it. It may not be talent, but you will need some kind of predisposition to
enjoying that activity, or a certain pre-wiring predisposing you to that given type of
activity.

Heck, some people can't even devote 10,000 hours to their marriage or to their kids...

EDIT: Oh, I thoroughly enjoyed the video, by the way!
