Are there any Japanese books that teach you how to read sentences involving Kanji? I'm currently in the process of learning Kanji and compound words, but it'll all be useless if I can't read any sentences once I'm done. Does anyone have any suggestions for me please?

I just got this book last week based on recommendations. But, I have not started it yet.
It includes a CD.

I love Kanji in Context - the whole idea is that you learn words in sentences, making them easier to remember. In-depth review here. It can be hard to find outside of Japan but if there's a Kinokuniya near you that's a good place to start.

The Kanji in Context workbooks have lots of good sentences in them, but they're not the cheapest books and you probably want the workbook and the reference book, which adds up.
If you're in the US and can't get books from a bookstore, thejapanshop.com is a good online textbook supplier. They're quick and they respond to questions and requests pretty quickly.

Try www.franklang.ru. The English section has free downloads of a large book of folktales, in his method. Full Japanese with transcription, translation and brief grammar explanation. Can't beat it for the price!
