Michel Thomas, Assimil or Pimsleur? | ||

Thanks for the replies everyone! I downloaded a free sample of Michel Thomas German and are the lessons that short (4 minutes?) and the accent is heavy or is it me? The man in the German sample spoke with such a heavy accent that I had trouble understanding him, let alone German.

I think Michel Thomas At Polish and Russian is perfect to me
his accent is wonderful at these languages at french , I useng French In Action >> perfect to me than Assimil because it teaching me with videos and with much more grammar lessons Assimil confusing me a lot at french michel thomas i think is good too at french pimsleur ... my first lessons in Russian were through pimsleur but I'm advise you with MT Assimil will confuse you Pimsleur .. maybe will be so boring to you MT + Grammer Book + watching TV series about target language maybe will be useful to you robbie Edited by re4lover on 30 July 2010 at 5:50pm 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Actually i find it is much harder to start with french in action than assimil. French in action is the full immersion approach, which i find very is very to start off with. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Do you think that the length of lessons in Assimil/MT (~5 minutes) is a bonus or a negative aspect?

I think it's a positive, since learning your target language requires daily practice, and it can be difficult to incorporate it into your life. I have been putting in a lot of hours this summer, but when i go back to school, breaking things down into smaller chunks is going to be a must. I'm planning on doing one lesson per day with assimil. as for MT, i did about a CD per day. I wouldn't have been able to that if it wasn't the summer. [/QUOTE] French In Action , the method is very interesting than Assimil at assimil you must read all that notes which are very boring and confusing when you want to know more about french grammar but at FIA you don't need to these notes but listen and repeat with videos and you'll be perfect 1 person has voted this message useful |
