I like the structure of Linguaphone, and I have some old copies in languages nobody else has much material on (Finnish in particular). However, checking every single word in the dictionary is incredibly boring and tedious for me. It wasn't that bad at first but after lesson 4 or so you're getting over 50 new words to look up in the dictionary for one lesson. I'd like to use Linguaphone as more of a L-R method. Has anyone done this? Perhaps by pre-translating the text or using someone else's translations?

You have to get the Handbook with vocabulary and explanations.

I have the handbook. It only has a small dictionary for each lesson, no whole translations.
