A simple question:
How long can a person who has become proficient at German expect to master Dutch?
How long can a person who has become proficient at Czech expect to master Russian?

How long did the person take to become proficient in those languages? Walk and we'll see...

The only type of comparison possible is a rough estimate of how much faster or slower it's likely to go.

In my experience, from French and English, it's taking me 3 or 4 times longer to learn Japanese than it did to learn German.
