I recently came across a plug-in for Google Chrome that translates some random words in
whatever you happen to be reading into your target language
(Fou

).

Here is a picture of it in action:



Has anyone used anything like this before? How accurate can I expect this to be? It
seems like a great way to sneak in some Russian while studying for other classes, plus
it's easy to turn off and on as needed.

I use a plugin for FireFox called Foxreplace. It works on user generated lists instead of Google Translate, so it can be used for things other than languages, but this looks quite nice for random vocab exposure. I may start using Chrome more often.

It can never be 100% accurate, and I would avoid it like the plague.

However, it could ve better than FoxReplace as it is tied into the Google Translate engine, so it might take context into consideration -- but they don't say whether it does or not. It doesn't make it clear whether it makes any attempt at conjugations or declensions, though. I suspect not.
