Hello!
My friend would like to start learn Vietnamese. Do you know what he can use for learning this language? Has anybody learning this language? I tried searching on Google for some materials, and there seems to be a Polish-Vietnamese

me, I am from Poland, and I have this assimil course.. it's good I would say.
It teaches a lot of stuff, as for such a small book. Also tieng viet, two parts, by Hoanh Thu Oang and Teresa(?) Halik. These are very comprehensive books. I have seen Vietnamese phrasebook in Empik too, it's in English. But I have not tried it, it has some recordings to it(Assimil is available with recordings too , I don't have this version though). As for free resources, there is DLI course and FSI course in English, these are good, the method is a little outdated, but the DLI one has over 1000 pages (11 volumes, or something). 1 person has voted this message useful | |

I definitely recommend Assimil. I had a look at it. The recordings are really well (good content, good sound quality). The language used in the book is very useful and common in Vietnam. I wish they have a version for English speaker, it must benefit many of you guys here.
I also had a look at Teach Yourself, cannot recommend for beginners. Go to fast, however can be a good source for intermediate or advanced learners. 1 person has voted this message useful |
