I'm wanting to learn to READ German, not understand it or its grammar. I just want to be able to read aloud or silently and have the correct sounds in my head.

I've got a book on Conversational German but I have no idea how to read it.

Can anyone recommend a book on how to READ German, and only Read it? I have a Native speaker (the German teacher at my school) willing to help me learn proper pronunciation and such. I just want to learn to read German, I'll be able to work through the conversational book with minimal assistance if I can read it all myself.

Go buy something like The Little Prince or even a younger child's book and start reading that. Look up words that you don't know. Eventually over time your vocabulary will build enough that you will be able to read easily. For hearing the right sounds you need to hear the right sounds you just need to learn the sounds of the language (relatively easy in German). This is something that the native speaker you mentioned can help you with in a matter of an hour or two.

"German Quickly: A Grammar for Reading German" by April Wilson is supposed to be very good and is written specifically for learning to read German. Amazon

You want to learn German pronunciation?
A possible source is German Pronunciation Guide.
