I'm really interested in names as well, so I'm looking forward to the contributions in this thread!
My name is Brianna Mackenzie Forster. Brianna is a feminine form of Brian, an Irish name that's supposed to mean something like 'strong' (perhaps related to the English 'brawny'?) MacKenzie is the name of a Scottish clan. (My mom chose my first and middle name for the sound and the trendiness factor; sadly, there's no special significance behind these choices!) Perhaps I was too quick to dismiss it as meaningless. I am aware that Anhalzer is native to the Anhalt region of Western Germany, apart from that, I see no further meaning to it. 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

My last name is Cathryn Mataga, and only since I started studying Japanese I discovered how to write Mataga in Kanji. 亦賀
亦＝また 賀＝が 亦＝again. 賀=congratulations/joy -- according to Rikaichan. My father also wrote Cathryn as 喜安燐 き-やす-りん -- though the name has other origins, obviously. My mother's maiden name is Kemp shortened from Kemppainen in Finland. Not sure if this has any meaning or not in Finnish. My grandmother's maiden name was Saksa which is Germany in Finnish. I think I've seen a thread very similar to this one before..
My name, Jiwon, is written as 지원 in Korean and 志源 in Hanja. 志 = meaning, purpose, will, determination 源 = source So my name means the source of will and purpose.. My dad named me so because he wanted me to lead a meaningful and purposeful life. :) 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

It seems like a reasonable guess then that "Anhalzer" derives from "Anhalt", meaning "person from Anhalt". "Anhalt" in turn probably means (in Swedish at least) "destination". 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

My name is Natalia, and it's quite popular in my country (7th position in Poland in 2010). Origin of the name Natalia (according to babynamewizard.com): From the Latin Natalia, a name derived from diēs nātālis (natal day, Christmas), which was originally given to children born on Christmas Day.
