The Case Book for Russian by Laura A. Janda and Steven J. Clancy

I've only begun to go through it but looking through the contents and skimming it, it
seems to have a wealth of information on the case system, as well as exercises at the
end.

I have read that book - several times - and although it is a great book, it is all quite
abstract to be honest. In a sense it most valuable when you almost no longer need it. It
is full of very insightful observations, but ones that make you go "of course, it makes
sense now" after a very long time of struggling with more concrete materials. All in all,
it may look like a good book for beginners, but it will just end up being way over their
head.

TY Hindi impressed me, it has quite witty dialogues and clear explanations. Another book that impressed me was Learning Irish by Michael O Siadhail. Neither of these are languages I have really seriously studied, but I have spent a few weeks with these books.

Colloquial Icelandic by Daisy L. Neijmann is the absolutely best way to learn Icelandic. The grammatical explanations are thorough and yet easy to understand. I can highly recommend it.
