What about you? What part of language learning brings you happiness?

I totally understand the feeling you are describing, although it is coming from a
different source for me. I get that feeling of real, overwhelming happiness from
understanding foreign language (no matter is it in written or spoken form). I get
something similar from learning new alphabet (or new Chinese characters). When something
that had no meaning for me suddenly gets a meaning, that's just amazing.

Same here, it feels like you're breaking a code. There's this sense of suddenly comprehending something once
secret and mysterious.

I feel the same as OP. Somehow I've always had motivation to study Japanese. It makes me
happy to think about that one day I can go to a place I always wanted to go and speak
their language. IT'S MAGICAL

also, Aineko summed up my feelings very well.
