Don't worry about making mistakes, and Don't worry about me, i write when I have time so no worries.
أفكر means "to think" and it can't be used like in English..for example "do you think you are strong?" .."think" here means to believe or to consider..but in Arabic if you say هل تفكر أنك قوي؟ would mean literally to think, to have thoughts going on in your mind right now that you are strong. So أفكر can only mean the actual process of thinking so when you ask for someone's opinion you should use هل تعتقد or هل تظن? 2 persons have voted this message useful | ||||||

Time for a little update.
I'm about done with the first 6 verbal forms, so I decided to take a break from Arabic verbal conjugations and work on vocabulary instead. Ooohh, exciting. (By "about done", I mean that I'm able to derive the past tense, present tense, subjunctive, jussive, commands, passive past tense, passive present tense, active participle, passive participle and verbal noun of any sound, doubled, assimilated, hollow or defective verbs from the first 6 forms from anaa to hunna. The other 4 forms shouldn't be too different from the previous forms. I'm not really sure how many Arabic words I know right now. My guess is around 1500. I also don't know if I should include plurals in my word count. That would almost double the number of words I know. I actively memorize the plural form of almost every new word I encounter. I find it is oftentimes impossible to predict the plural from the singular. This is one of my biggest peeves with Arabic. And yes, I'm aware of many of the patterns (e.g. masdar/masaadir, masna3/masaani3 or natiija/nataa'ij, jariida/jaraa'id etc) but they are no where close to being exact science. 1 person has voted this message useful | ||||||

Some time back, I said I would post 5 sentences a day in Arabic... lol...
Okay, now that the laughter has subsided, I've decided to retract/rectify that statement. I've decided to post 5 sentences... once every blue moon. That seems more manageable. So here goes. Once again, I welcome any corrections to my sentences. Also, I'm not overly proud of these sentences. The writing is amateurish at best (i.e. reads like the work of a 1st grader). Of course, I had to work within the constraints of the words and sentence structures I'm familiar with. هناك اضطراب في مصر. يقاتلون ناس كثيرون في شوارع القاهرة والحالة معقد جدا. يجاهدون الناس ليحصلوا على عدالة وإنصاف لأنهم يكرهون الفساد في بلدهم. أجانب يغادرون البلد مغادرة سريعة. أولئك الذين بقوا في البلد لا يزالون محاولة أن يتركونه. Hope it's OK if I reply; These sentences are fine. The only change I'd make is to put ال before عدالة and before إنصاف and change the last line to: وأولئك الذين يبقوا في البلد ما زالوا يحاولون مغادرته . Oh and it should be معقدة. هناك اضطراب في مصر. يقاتل أُناس كثيرون في شوارع القاهرة والحال معقد جدا. يجاهد الناس
ليحصلوا على العدالة والإنصاف لأنهم يكرهون الفساد في بلدهم. أجانب يغادرون البلد سريعا. أولئك الذين بقوا في البلد لا يزالون يحالون تركه انصاف و عدالة should be preceded by ال cos there is one عدالة and one انصاف. Of course it's OK to reply. I'm just glad that y'all are kind enough to take the time to read and correct my sentences. I feel the fastest way for me to improve is to write more and learn from my mistakes.
